From the 23rd to the 26th of October 2023, the inaugural segment of a three-day training and awareness program concerning legislation pertaining to white-collar crimes was conducted at the Balochistan Judicial Academy (BJA) in Quetta. This initiative was organized by UNODC, with generous funding from the European Union. The collaborative endeavor of UNODC, EU and BJA is currently receiving accolades as a momentous stride in fortifying the legal framework and bolstering the judicial capacity to combat white-collar crimes and corruption within the jurisdiction of Pakistan. The training provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of international law, with a primary focus on UNCAC. This understanding is crucial for judges and magistrates in addressing transnational issues related to corruption and white-collar crimes. UNCAC provides a robust framework for anti-corruption efforts, and its effective implementation is essential in the fight against corruption and white collar crimes. This initiative is in consonance with global initiatives dedicated to fostering good governance and combating corruption, both of which are of paramount importance for the economic development and social advancement of Balochistan.
